Cardstock: Gnat VTOL in 2 Schemes

I downloaded this paper model from Reverisco's free model download ages ago. They used to rotate the free model each month but lately I've been only seeing the starship corrider downloads. The model was designed by Jim Neal and redrawn and colored by John McEwan. It's a nifty little model scaled at around the old 25mm scale -- that is to say it seems compatible with Reverisco's Starguard line (the setting it was designed for) as well as 1/72 models. The hull is similar to most modern gunships like the Cobra and Apache. But instead of rotors, the Gnat has two rotating thrusters on either side. A weapons pod is located at the belly and I've been thinking of the other stuff I could scratchbuild for different payloads. The game setting & rules published by John McEwan is around 40 years old --making it the oldest commercially available miniature Science Fiction wargame! What began as a simple skirmish game inspired by Robert Heinlein's novel Starship Troopers h...

Sighted! Usborne's Make This Medieval Village

I saw this book during a quick stop at the local bookstore. The models look suitable for 1/72 plastic figures and I'm thinking of buying it soon. The whole set with the models on the printed landscape base measures 24 x 18 inches along the base. If I do buy it, I'll be posting pictures.

Cardstock Models on the Net: Dave's Games

Cardstock buildings & terrain have opened up a new field of modelling for me. Models can be made available on the net and easily downloaded, printed and made. A recent find is Dave's Games: The Encroachment of Chaos. The site offers a cornucopia of accessories for Warhammer Fantasy, including a set of really impressive medieval buildings in 28mm. I've downloaded the models and plan to rescale them for 1/72. The picture above is a completed model of the town gatehouse and was taken from that site. I'll be posting my wip pix of the medieval village project here. Check out Dave's Games: The Encroachment of Chaos!

Cardstock Models: Woodsmens Huts

Wizards of the Coast has a set of cardstock models scaled for their dungeons & dragon miniatures. After offering a wide set for free download, the models were taken offline for a while and repackaged as Map Folio 3D products. A few models were rereleased as free downloads again but with some models such as the village houses and alternate towers remaining exclusively in the Map Folio. I made a couple of these woodsmen's huts at the exact scale of the art (around 28mm) but still found them a bit too big for my purposes. The dwarves pictured above are from Games Workshop and Harlequin Miniatures. I usually game using mass battles rules and the models seem scaled more for skirmish wargaming. I'll be scaling these down to around 1/72 scale soon. you can check out the model downloads here .

Cardstock Models: Church

Here's a cardstock model I downloaded and made from Alternate Realms . The site's under renovation and I don't think this specific model is currently available for download. The site owner, Brian Collins, is an illustrator I think and has designed a series of medieval village models. He used to offer a few for free and a wider range for sale on cd. The church is seen here with a few 1/72 figures from Hat's rerelease of the Airfix Sherrif of Nottingham set.
