I really like Games Workshop's Lord of the Rings line, especially the plastics. The orcs and wargs are smaller than their Warhammer line and are sculpted beautifully with realistic proportions and poses. These models were painted with acrylics over a black base coat and I used as coat references my dogs Ursula, Batgirl, Izma & Tumbling. The film book "Arms & Armor of Middle Earth" as well as the "Art of..." books from the trilogy also served in providing color references. During photography, I used a smaller set of lights but without a light tent. A few light cookies and colored gels ( kindly lent by the wife who was planning a lighting design when I took the pictures...thanks, Hon!) were also used as an experiment.
