Last year, I posted this down at my multiply site:
What can I say -- I like playing with toy soldiers. To be more specific, I'm a scale modeler and a wargamer. Wargaming models are especially hard to procure here in the Philippines, that's why I've long since shopped for these online. Last Christmas though, I stumbled on a huge sale of Mageknight booster packs. The shop was selling them dirt cheap because the game had long since stopped production. With no support and a weak and fickle fan-base locally, the toys were virtually reduced to useless merchandise with no gamers/buyers.Here are a few of the resurrected models:
Now, I've never been a fan of clickies (as the wizkids' product is known) and I abhorred the prepainted look of the models with their garish paint schemes (see the picture above) and splotchy brushwork, but at roughly a dollar per pack, I decided to buy more than a few armloads. Since the models were sold in blind boxes ( you can't see what figures you get), I amassed quite a pile of plastic.
Last April, I got around to browsing through the mess and selected some models which I felt could be built up as a cohesive sci-fi army for games using the No Limits rules. I've since gotten rid of the clicky bases, spray painted them with primer and have started painting the figures. At present, I'm nearly done! Nowadays, I only get around an hour each week night to paint and a few hours during the weekend. Hopefully, I can display the repainted figures by the end of this month.
The fantasy models also received the same treatment. Pictures coming soon.
